Join our 18th Century stonemason James and hear about his involvement in building throughout Europe. Learn about the journeyman stage of his training as he recalls working on some of the great fort and mansion building projects throughout the years and how he’s applied it to building here in Scotland.
Learn about the destruction of outdated medieval castles to create rubble for modern building’s foundations and the quarrying of stone in the nearby quarries.
See if you can guess what tools he would use for which particular task and help him decipher some of the architects’ drawings
